History

This fiery Jimi Hendrix tune was played eight times on Trey's Spring 1999 TAB tour with the trio. One of the performances on 5/17/99 was a benefit show for COTS at the Flynn Theater in Burlington, Vermont. For the encore Trey, Tony and Russ were joined by Fish, Mike, Page and Dave Grippo for Bobby "Blue" Bland's "Further On Up the Road" and without Grippo for "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)" as the final number. After the tour closing encore version on 5/19/99, this song was not played again until 11/04/06 where an incomplete version was sandwiched between "46 Days" and the TAB debut of Heart's "Barracuda".

Check out the version by Stevie Ray Vaughn, who of course released a version (on his 1984 album Couldn't Stand the Weather), and with a voice arguably more authentic to the original than Trey’s. Also, note that this is not the same as “Voodoo Chile” or “Voodoo Chile Blues,” two of several Hendrix variations on this song sometimes commonly titled "Voodoo Child", nor the Rogue Traders' song that formally has that title.
