This show was an absolutely transformative moment in my life. I remember waking onto the lot, hearing the Dead and old Phish shows crackling out of stereos. I remember the smell of weed wafting in the air, as if no-one had a care of being caught. I remember being offered LSD and being viscerally frightened by that fact. I remember eating a goo-ball and fading into total bliss. I remember how people kept talking about this guy Medeski on keys, it sounded like a big deal but I had no idea. I remember how welcoming the stage looked with those blue lights hovering over Trey's guitar. I remember the jolt of energy I got watching Trey walk onto the stage and picking up his guitar, hovering below the lights, had to his brow, looking for people he knew in the crowd. I remember the way the roar of the crowd grew with the first snap of Push on Til The Day. I remember I didn't stop dancing until the show was over.

FIRST TUBE (The First Phish Song I Heard Live)
I walked away from this show completely changed. Musically, I'd never go back. I'd found the sound I'd been looking for my whole life. I found the addictive joy of live/improvisational music, and I've spent the last 16 years seeking it out relentlessly. Lifestyle-wise, this was transformative. I knew the people I wanted to be around. I know the open-mindedness I wanted to live with. I knew I wanted to travel and experience this feeling over and over again.
Thank you, Trey. Thank you, Arron Klein, wherever you are.
